To use a custom domain name, you will need to modify the DNS Records wherever you purchased the domain. This will include editing the CNAME for the subdomain and adding TXT Record (instructions below).
Step 1: Modify the DNS Settings of your Custom Domain
Domain management systems differ in their interfaces for each domain provider, but the basic steps to add a CNAME are similar.
Log in to your domain registrar account (e.g., GoDaddy, Google Domains), then locate the DNS settings or management page for your custom sub-domain.
Add CNAME with value - customers.closelyhq.com
Look for an existing CNAME record for "www" and click pencil to edit.
If there is no existing CNAME record for "www", click 'Add' and select CNAME.
3. Fill in CNAME Fields - "www" is the subdomain of your root domain.
Host or Name: www
Points To:
TTL: 1 Hour
Click Save
Each registrar has a different interface, so check their help resources if needed. Here are some popular providers:
If your provider isn't listed, search for “Create a CNAME record” in their help section.
Step 2: Closely Site Settings
Log in to your Closely account
Go to the Branding tab
Type/Paste in your custom domain name in the field as: app.yourcustomdomain.com
Click "Apply changes"
Step 3: Add a TXT Record
After we verify the settings from Step 1, you will receive a TXT record by email. The method to add a text record to your domain will vary with hosts
The generic steps to add a text record to your domain are:
Sign in to your domain account.
Find the page for updating DNS records. This might be called DNS Management or Advanced Settings.
Look for TXT records on this page.
Add a TXT record for your domain and each subdomain.
Save your changes. It may take a few minutes to 72 hours for changes to take effect.
Test your Custom Domain
Open a new tab or window in your web browser and type in app.yourcustomdomain.com.
Your Closely website will open if your DNS settings are configured correctly.

Changing Your Domain
If you need to change the domain associated with your account, this cannot be done directly through the system. To request any domain changes, you must contact your account manager for assistance
